Nature Award (2011)

In 2011, Fundación Recover received the 16th Nature Award for its project “Mother Africa: reduction of the maternity-infant mortality rate in Sangmelima,” which sought to provide basic health coverage to pregnant women and newborns at Sangmelima Hospital in Cameroon.

Thanks to this award, we were able to boost the maternity-infant services at this hospital, promoting the vaccination of mothers and children and prenatal/postnatal monitoring. We were able to provide specialized training to hospital staff, set up a maternity room, and design protocols for childbirth, prenatal consultations and postpartum screening, as well as improve access to vital medications and give educational workshops about labor, newborn care and STD transmission.
