{"id":11164,"date":"2026-05-15T14:16:43","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T12:16:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacionrecover.org\/?p=11164"},"modified":"2026-05-15T14:34:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T12:34:19","slug":"marlene-shares-her-experience-patient-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fundacionrecover.org\/en\/marlene-comparte-su-experiencia-programa-pacientes\/","title":{"rendered":"Marl\u00e8ne shares her experience after undergoing surgery thanks to the Patients programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every 25th of May, it is celebrated that <strong>Africa Day<\/strong>, a date that focuses on the opportunities, challenges and realities of a continent where millions of people still encounter difficulties in accessing specialised healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignright is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Patient Programme | Marl\u00e8ne&#039;s Story\" width=\"563\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E2spu1YjhVQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Fundaci\u00f3n Recover, we have been working for almost 20 years to strengthen health systems in Africa and <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacionrecover.org\/en\/what-we-do\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">facilitate access to medical treatments<\/mark><\/a> to people who cannot receive them in their home countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"--givewp-primary-color: #c2d500\" class=\"givewp-campaign-donate-button-block wp-block-givewp-campaign-donate-button\">\n    <button type=\"button\" class=\"givewp-donation-form-modal__open\">Make your donation now!<\/button><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of those people is <strong>Marl\u00e8ne, a 26-year-old patient from Burundi who arrived in Spain <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacionrecover.org\/en\/how-we-work\/#operarenespana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">thanks to the Patients programme<\/mark><\/a><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\"> <\/mark>from Recover Foundation<\/strong> after living for nine years with a serious health problem that severely affected their mobility and quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marl\u00e8ne was treated at the Ruber Internacional Hospital by the traumatologist Inmaculada Arrayas and her team.
