{"id":3817,"date":"2023-03-26T04:11:48","date_gmt":"2023-03-26T03:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacionrecover.org\/?p=4489"},"modified":"2024-12-05T11:31:03","modified_gmt":"2024-12-05T10:31:03","slug":"cervical-cancer-second-most-common-cancer-in-women-worldwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fundacionrecover.org\/en\/el-cancer-de-cervix-el-segundo-mas-comun-entre-las-mujeres-de-todo-el-mundo\/","title":{"rendered":"Cervical cancer, the second most common cancer among women worldwide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cervical cancer, or cervical cancer, which commemorates its international prevention day this Sunday 26th, is the most common form of cervical cancer. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/es\/cancer\/cancer-de-cuello-uterino\/acerca\/estadisticas-clave.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>second most common type<\/strong><\/a> of cancer among women worldwide, with an incidence of more than 604,000 new cases in 2020, and an estimated 342,000 deaths per year, located 90% in low and\/or middle-income countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nprojections for the disease in the period 2010 to 2030 show an upward trend in cases, with the risk for\ntrend of increasing cases, with the risk being higher for women in low-development\ncountries, particularly on the African continent.\nIt is estimated that, at present, <strong>more than\none million women suffer from this type of cancer.<\/strong>The majority of those who have not yet been diagnosed\nhave not yet been diagnosed, nor do they have access to treatments that could cure or prolong their lives.\ncure them or prolong their lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cervical cancer in Africa<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The age of highest prevalence of cervical cancer is 40-55 years, with a variation between countries, so that in environments with a lower level of development the age would be lower. These campaigns revolve around a triple objective: <strong>raise awareness<\/strong> women about the importance of gynaecological check-ups, <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacionrecover.org\/en\/cancer-de-cervix-podemos-llegar-a-tiempo\/\"><strong>diagnose quickly<\/strong><\/a> positive cases and <strong>provide treatments<\/strong> early, including therapeutic surgery (conisation or hysterectomy), in order to prevent progression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The importance of <strong>early detection<\/strong> of the disease is one of the objectives. These campaigns include smears and subsequent reading, taking biopsies (in the event of abnormal results) and analysis, as well as interventions as appropriate (conisections and hysterectomies).
