In Ivory Coast, for every 1,000 children born, 108 die. In Benin, West Africa, there are just 0.62 doctors for every 10,000 inhabitants (in Spain we have 45.8) and in Cameroon the national minimum wage is 63.83 euros. These are some of the reasons that led to the creation of Fundaci\u00f3n Recover, Hospitales para \u00c1frica (Recover Foundation, Hospitals for Africa), a secular, independent, non-profit organisation that has been carrying out healthcare cooperation work in Africa for 17 years. Its activity is concentrated in the aforementioned countries and is focused on maternal and child health and community mental health, minor surgeries, cardiovascular health and hospital management; with special attention given to women and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Operating from Madrid in coordination with a local team in Cameroon, they work daily to make their vision of the world a reality: a place where all people in Africa have access to high-quality, dignified healthcare. That goal, although still a very long way off, has enabled them to achieve various milestones over the years. Specifically, more than 110 health centres, accessed by around 1.2 million people, have benefited from their work, which is made possible thanks to their professional volunteer network, given that their budget is rather tight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
