Parents of children with sickle cell disease face enormous expenses, such as regular consultations, laboratory tests and medication. The work of an NGO like Fundaci\u00f3n Recover, which helps patients, is commendable, as it helps to reduce many of these expenses. I now know that my son's antibiotics and folic acid are guaranteed for a year, which is a great relief.<\/em>\"said \u00c9m\u00e9rance Halima, David's mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For her part, Sandrine Gu\u00e9l\u00e9 said: \".<em>The Foundation's commitment to the health and well-being of patients is truly remarkable.<\/em>\". Gu\u00e9l\u00e9 is a nurse and knows what she is talking about, as she also suffers from sickle cell disease. During her intervention on the radio programme \"Sant\u00e9 Plus Actu\", Gu\u00e9l\u00e9 shared her personal experience, emphasising the importance of preventive treatment and proper management of the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also present at the radio talk was the Recover Foundation's representative in Africa, \u00c9milie Ngono, who highlighted the organisation's positive impact on the community affected by sickle cell disease in Africa. Sickle cell disease is a hereditary disease that mainly affects the African population, and can cause anaemia, chronic pain, infections and other serious health problems. In sub-Saharan Africa, it is one of the leading causes of infant mortality.
