Training and telemedicine with volunteers to improve healthcare for 1.2 million people in Africa

The newspaper El Confidencial reports on the important work carried out by the Recover Foundation on the African continent.

En Costa Marfil por cada 1.000 niños que nacen, fallecen 108. En Benín, África Occidental, tan solo cuentan con 0,62 médicos por cada 10.000 habitantes (en España disponemos de 45,8) y en Camerún el salario mínimo interprofesional es de 63,83 euros. Estas son algunas de las razones que motivaron el nacimiento de Fundación Recover, Hospitales para África, una organización laica, independiente y sin ánimo de lucro que desempeña labores de cooperación sanitaria desde hace 17 años en África. Su actividad se concentra en los países ya mencionados y están enfocados en salud materno-infantil y mental comunitaria, cirugías menores, salud cardiovascular y gestión hospitalaria; con atención especial a las mujeres y a la infancia.

Operan desde Madrid en coordinación con un equipo local en Camerún y trabajan a diario para hacer realidad su visión del mundo: un lugar en el que todas las personas de África tengan acceso a una atención sanitaria digna y de calidad. Ese objetivo, aunque aún todavía muy lejano, les ha permitido alcanzar diferentes logros a lo largo de los años. En concreto, más de 110 centros de salud, a los que tienen acceso en torno a 1,2 millones de personas, se han visto beneficiados con su labor, que es posible gracias a la red de voluntariado profesional de la que disponen, ya que su presupuesto es bastante ajustado.
