I Recover Report - The State of Maternal and Child Health in Benin, Cameroon and C.Ivoire

Los elevados índices de natalidad del continente africano, junto con el bajo número de personal sanitario hace que sea necesario un análsis de la situación y una propuesta de soluciones que se presentan en este informe.

África es el más joven de los continentes. Mientras que entre sus laderas, selvas y costas nacen 39 bebés por cada 1.000 habitantes, en Europa hay 10 neonatos, contando así con una edad media de 23 años, en contraste con la española de 42. Unas cifras que se ven reflejadas en cada informe y en cada dato sobre salud materno-infantil, empezando por los sanitarios: mientras en un hospital medio de la capital de Camerún se atienden más de 2.000 partos al año, con una base de 45.000 pacientes, en el hospital madrileño de La Paz, referencia en volumen de partos en Europa, se atienden 5.700, con una base de más de 200.000 pacientes.

At Recover Foundation, donde contamos con 10 años de trabajo en Camerún y otros países vecinos, somos conscientes de que los elevados índices de natalidad del continente africano, y más concretamente de África subsahariana, no van solos. El joven continente soporta también los índices más elevados de mortalidad materna, infantil y neonatal y, por esta razón, hemos elaborado este I Informe Recover de salud materno infantil, que recoge los datos y cifras más relevantes y propone la suma del esfuerzo de los distintos agentes internacionales para la consecución de los ODS marcados en la agenda 2030.
