WHAT WE DO

We go hand in hand with and support hospitals in Africa

Our strategic objectives are

01

To support and strengthen precarious primary health care centres and their local staff with medium- and long-term support

02

To develop and carry out health campaigns for the benefit of the population living in the vicinity of the health centres with which we collaborate

03

To operate in Spain on those patients who cannot be operated on in their countries of origin because they have no other alternatives available to them

We focus on strengthening health centres in the following lines of work:

Maternal and child health

Sectoral approach

Maternal and child health

Hospital management

Community mental health

Minor surgeries

Cardiovascular health

Special attention to women and children

The Recover Foundation's vocation is to work for the most disadvantaged population as a whole, those who have fewer opportunities, who are in a situation of dependence, inequality or social and economic vulnerability..

For this reason, we want to focus on meeting the needs of women and children in a special way.

Projects highlighted

Telemedicine

A network of professionals in which Spanish specialists connect with health professionals in Africa, and these with each other, to improve the diagnosis of medical cases and offer on-going training.

Since 2013, 124 volunteers, mainly Spanish, 417 local professionals from 92 health centres, and 296 health students from 7 African countries have participated in the programme.
An average of 330 diagnostic cases and 113 bibliographic reviews are uploaded to the telemedicine platform each year.

NUTRI-m

Contributes to the reduction of malnutrition in children 6-59 months of age, through permanent medical check-ups, food and vitamin supplements, as well as raising awareness among their caretakers through workshops and SMS messages that reinforce changes in health and hygiene habits.

Since 2021, our campaign has reached nearly 3,000 children in Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire.

Life stories

Behind every patient who comes to be operated on at allied hospitals in Spain, there is a moving story of patience, excitement, hope, and a dream come true.

Taofik is one of many, a 12-year-old boy who suffered from a disease that would be difficult to operate on in his country, Benin. His operation has changed his future. And so have 170 other patients in Africa who have been "born again", and are now doing very well, in Africa.

Hospital management

Improving the integrated management of hospital centres is a priority for the Recover Foundation.

We work to achieve the highest possible levels of efficiency in the management of the three key elements of a hospital: general services, medical care, and hospital care..

We support the digitisation of the centres and the professionalisation of hospital management (cashier, pharmacy, administration, etc.). Since 2021, our campaign has reached almost 3,000 children in Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire.
