Within the framework of the Amplify-Psy mental health project in Gbêkê, developed in collaboration between Fundación Recover and the Atlantic Group Foundation, the Directorate of Coordination of the National Mental Health Programme of Côte d'Ivoire has presented the results of this initiative in Abidjan.
The meeting was attended by the Director-General of Fundación Recover, Marta Marañón Medina, who highlighted the relevance of the alliance with Fundación Atlantic Group in Ivory Coast, as well as the key role of the operational partnership with Mindful Change Foundation for the development of the project on the ground.
During the day, a panel was also held focusing on the promotion of sexual and reproductive rights and health for women with mental illness and/or epilepsy, focusing on one of the most vulnerable groups.
The workshop brought together institutional representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice and other Ivorian authorities, alongside national and international organisations such as UNICEF, the WHO, Save the Children and professional bodies, in a space for dialogue and joint work.
The Amplify-Psy Project has enabled us to raise awareness among approximately 4,000 people and support and treat 120 pregnant women with mental health issues in three communities in Gbêkê, thanks to the partnership with the Atlantic Group Foundation and the fieldwork of Mindful Change Foundation.
Fundación Recover continues to work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, especially among women, and move towards fairer, more dignified, and accessible care for all.
