Clementine and Florence left Burkina Faso with one goal: to receive life-saving surgery. Their journey was not easy. They left their homes in Ouagadougou on a Monday. They passed through another country, Bamako, Mali, to pick up their visas. After two stopovers and with their suitcases lost, they finally arrived in Madrid on Thursday afternoon.
Thanks to our collaboration with Uber, their last leg to Albacete Hospital was much easier and more comfortable. There, the opportunity for a new beginning awaited them: a heart valve replacement that has transformed their lives.
Today, these two brave women have a second chance. Clementine, a mother of three, has returned to her family's side with a strong heart. Florence, having been rejected by her environment because of her illness, now has a future full of possibilities to return to work without exhausting herself.
Thank you to all the people and companies like Uber who make it possible for stories like hers to have a hopeful outcome.
