Thanks to the collaboration of the Quirónsalud Pozuelo Hospital staff and Recover volunteers, she was able to return home with a new future ahead of her.

His case was brought to Recover by Jorge Parise, a paediatric surgeon and President of the Childhood and Surgery Association in Dangbo who asked us to study the boy's case in 2021. Taofik had undergone surgery when he was just 4 years old for Hirschprung's disease, a congenital disorder affecting the large intestine that causes problems with bowel movements, and needed to be operated on again.

The Covid-19 pandemic delayed Taofik's arrival until February 2023, when he finally underwent the very successful digestive operation he so desperately needed. During his stay in Madrid, he was welcomed with his father, Ismaila, in the home of Emilio and Chantal (volunteers of the Childhood and Surgery Association in Dangbo), and also accompanied by Alban (Recover volunteer).

When Marta and Emilie visited his family, Taofik told them that the nurses and doctors at the hospital treated him with love.

"I want to thank the hospital, doctors and nurses for taking care of Taofik and allowing him to play and enjoy himself like a child again," said his father, who also told us that Taofik is ready to start his secondary school studies.
