In a recent interview broadcast on the programme África Hoy, on Radiotelevisión Española, Marta Marañón Medina, CEO of Fundación Recover, spoke about the high incidence of Uterine cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa, a silent but devastating threat which affects women living in less developed countries very acutely.
«Early diagnosis, regular check-ups and cytologies, as well as access to the human papillomavirus vaccine for girls under 14, are fundamental for the prevention of this cancer, which, in countries like Spain, is much easier to prevent. However, in Sub-Saharan Africa, a lack of access to these preventive measures and early diagnosis doubles the risk of mortality.
In December, Recover Foundation published a report on the results of health campaigns carried out in Cameroon to raise awareness, prevent, diagnose, and treat this disease.
