Marta Marañón Medina, general director of Fundación Recover, and Nery Villalobos, program coordinator, recently carried out a mission in the north of Mauritania, in the town of Bir Moghrein, a border area with Western Sahara.
During the visit, they were able to witness first-hand the living conditions of the nomadic desert population, which mainly depends on the livestock of camels and goats and lives in tents. Also, accompanied by the NGO Human Coop, they visited the Bir Moghrein health center with the aim of exploring possible synergies to improve healthcare in this region.
The mission took place within the framework of a medical caravan led by the president of Human Coop, Ignacio Calatayud, and was supported by 25 Spanish volunteers from various specialties, the Mauritanian Mohamed Salem Foundation, and a logistical team composed of Saharawi personnel.
