Profitable journeys
The trip has served not only to highlight the commendable work of the Quirónsalud Albacete Hospital –covered in various media outlets–, but also to initiate a promising line of collaboration with the city council.
It is Dr Gonzalo Aldámiz, head of cardiac surgery, who is responsible for operating on African patients who lack the resources to have surgery in their own country. Thanks to the close collaboration between the Recover Foundation and the Quirónsalud Albacete Hospital, over the last few years 87 patients from Burkina Faso and 5 from Cameroon have been operated on.
Furthermore, Juani García Vitoria, Councillor Delegate for Citizen Care, and Montserrat Parrilla, international cooperation programme technician, from the City Council of Albacete, presented both the Municipal Development Cooperation Plan and the awareness-raising campaigns ‘Primavera Solidaria’ (Solidarity Spring) and ‘Africa Day’. In this area, Fundación Recover will shortly present its proposals to actively participate in these initiatives.
