Fundación Recover has carried out a reconnaissance and needs analysis mission in the Kavango region of Namibia, located on the border with Angola and Botswana, with the aim of identifying possible intervention lines aimed at improving access to healthcare in very vulnerable communities.
The delegation, composed of Marta Marañón, director of Fundación Recover, and Nery Villalobos, coordinator of the organization, has carried out this mission as part of the corporate social responsibility program of Vestige-Namibia, a high-end sustainable tourism company that co-invests with local communities in the management of conservation areas.

The future collaboration between Vestige-Namibia and the Recover Foundation will enable the promotion of initiatives aimed at improving access to healthcare for thousands of people living in remote and hard-to-reach areas. In many cases, these communities face significant geographical barriers to accessing healthcare services, with dispensaries located more than 18 kilometers away on foot (one way), through sandy roads that traverse areas of forest, savanna, and dense bushland.

During the mission, the team was able to get first-hand knowledge of the environment in which these communities operate, as well as the conditions in which local healthcare infrastructure operates. Furthermore, key institutional meetings were held to strengthen future lines of collaboration.
As part of this mission, the H.E. Ambassador of Spain in Namibia, Francisco Javier Pagalday Gastelurrutia, received the delegation of Fundación Recover at the Spanish Embassy. Emilia Celemín Redondo, the second head of the Embassy, joined the meeting, in a meeting that allowed strengthening institutional dialogue and exploring possible avenues of support.
