Africa continues to bear the highest burden of malaria according to the latest WHO World Malaria Report 2022, with 234 million cases per year.
According to WHO, the African continent accounted for 951TPT3T of all malaria cases worldwide. Malaria continues to be a disease that affects children under five years of age most severely, with this age group accounting for 801TPT3T of malaria deaths.

In the case of Cameroon, where the Recover Foundation is working to control the disease, it is highly endemic, which means that "the more than 27 million Cameroonians are regularly exposed to the disease," explained Emilie Ngono, the foundation's representative in Cameroon.
In 2022, the country recorded more than three million malaria cases and almost 4,000 deaths, mostly among children under five and pregnant women.
However, according to the latest WHO report, in 2021 Cameroon has become one of the 15 countries that have managed to reduce the incidence of malaria cases and the proportion of deaths from 18% in 2019 to 13.5% today....
