At the Quirónsalud Albacete Hospital, Autinha, 11 years old, and Sam, 15 years old, two young people from Guinea-Bissau who needed heart surgery to recover their health and their childhood, have been operated on.
Both children were identified in their country by AIDA NGO, present in Guinea-Bissau. Thanks to the partnership between AIDA and Recover, their temporary evacuation was organized to access specialized care in Spain.
The operation was led by Dr. Gonzalo Aldamiz-Echevarría, patron of Fundación Recover, and his team, which has already carried out more than 100 heart surgeries on African patients as part of this solidarity program.
The images of the visit made by the director of Recover, Marta Marañón, also show Dr. Aldamiz-Echevarría, the volunteers of Recover Pepe and Conchi, Autinha’s mother and the nurses Alicia and Elisabeth, who were part of the care team.

💚 With the support of hospitals, medical teams, and committed individuals, the Recover Foundation continues to work to ensure access to dignified and quality healthcare for the most vulnerable people in Africa.
